What you need to know
Hello Dears...my name is Miss Shirley…and I want to tell you a little bit about myself. I am on a quest to find character. What is my definition of character? It’s that liiiittle voice inside that tells us the difference between right and wrong. My grandmother always used to say, “Everybody has gifts…some you can see and some you can’t see!” Well with our Greatness Glasses (and our imaginations) we can see everyone’s gifts. I want to teach children to be curious…to find out why they are all great and how each of our individual gifts help make the world go around. When we appreciate the gifts of others around us….we have learned not only to support and care for them…but to like and believe in ourselves as well.
Greatness stands for Goals, Responsibility, Enjoy your Environment, Act as If, Tell the Truth, Never Give Up, Express Yourself, Share and Smile. Greatness teaches us Empathy. Learning to put ourselves in someone else’s shoes is one of life’s most important little lessons. Children must learn empathy before adulthood …otherwise we create a society of people who think they can make it on their own with no accountability to anyone or anything! I can’t think of a quicker way to lose that which makes us so special. Alone we are weak but together we are strong!
We all want to be successful in life, don’t we? Yeeeess! As Michael Josephson says, “If success is about achievements…significance is about impact!” And I say… why not both? We need to make a significant impact on the children in our lives if they are to grow to be successful!
Love,
Miss Shirley
p.s. And remember always, “Miss Shirley Sees Greatness in YOU!”
